PostgreSQL is a powerful, open source, fully featured, object-relational database system with over 30 years of active development from a talented, independent open source community. It was created from the same research as Oracle and IBM-DB2 and contains a comparable set of enterprise class features. Its optional use in the Primal OSE infrastructure will help to improve reliability, add feature robustness, reduce operating costs and improve overall system performance. “Being free and fully open source makes PostgreSQL the ideal solution for building out and expanding both production and lab systems,” said Parmjit Randhawa, Director of Engineering at Primal Technologies. “In addition, it provides advanced replication techniques like Point-In-Time Recovery, High Availability and Auto-failover allowing this database to transition into the OSE infrastructure easily,” he continued.
