Primal Technologies, a leading provider of advanced communications solutions, is pleased to announce the successful deployment of its Advanced NFV Geo-Redundant (GR) Unified Voicemail Solution within SaskTel's Production Cloud environment. The migration and customer cutover was completed in the summer of 2024 and marked a significant milestone in SaskTel's ongoing modernization efforts, replacing its legacy voicemail system, which had reached its End-of-Life (EOL).

Michael Dorma, Network Engineer at SaskTel, emphasized the critical role Primal Technologies played in meeting the operator’s specific requirements for a modern voicemail system. "Our previous voicemail platform had reached EOL and was no longer supported, so we needed a reliable and scalable solution. Primal Technologies demonstrated the capability to fulfill our comprehensive set of voicemail features for both Landline and Wireless services. The G-R NFV deployment was a key consideration, and Primal’s ability to meet these complex needs made them the ideal partner for us."

The Advanced Geo-Redundant (GR) Unified Voicemail Solution leverages NFV (Network Functions Virtualization) to ensure high availability and resilience through geo-redundancy, delivering uninterrupted service to both landline and wireless users across the region. Primal’s deployed Unified Voicemail Solution is supported by a broad set of Voicemail features for SaskTel that includes multiple keymaps, multiple branded web portals, and the requirement to also support Fax Overflow mailboxes and Attendant calling, which also includes multiple incoming and outgoing call legs using a variety of different device codecs.
