Rapidly Deploys Voice Mail Solution For Farmers Wireless

Mississauga, February 10, 2004 - Primal Technologies Inc., (
www.primaltech.com) of Mississauga, a provider of specialized
intelligent network applications for the telecommunications carrier and
service provider industries, has recently deployed their solution to
voice mail evolution in the Farmers Wireless network.
After an unsuccessful trial implementation of another voice mail solution,
Farmers was cautious as they considered all that the Primal Service Node
promised to be capable of performing on a single platform. Their future
plans for network evolution required a flexible solution that would
migrate gracefully as subscriber demands for more capabilities increased.
"We knew we could get it done” says Gary Kirk general manager for Farmers
Wireless, “we simply had to hold out for what we knew we needed". Farmers’
is preparing their market for next generation services and has a plan in
process to overlay their market with GSM. The Primal Service Node (PSN)
is already groomed to receive that traffic as soon as it is deployed.
"The Primal Service Node will support many more applications than we are
prepared to run today” adds Kirk, “it is nice to have choices that are
now in-house”. Primal’s solution will support Prepaid, SMS, Conference
Bureau, Announcements, and more on the same hardware and software
platform. The architecture allows these additions to be "turned on"
remotely through separate software licensing agreements. The hardware
needs to be sized appropriately for growth but does not require a
"forklift" to migrate to future applications.
"This was a unique situation where the operator was in a tight spot,
time wise, due to earlier initiatives that caused delay" describes
Primal’s national sales director, Stephen Lehr "our role was to come
in and supply standard solutions in an exceptional timeframe.
"We have all the resources in place; we simply had to orient them
to making this happen. Credit belongs to both our implementation team
and Farmers’ support staff who went the extra mile to enhance the
impact on subscribers".
"To enable network control and monitor the voice mail services on
the PSN, the solution includes a tightly integrated network monitoring
tool: Primal Skylight – a graphical user interface (GUI) that runs
on the desktop and connects to the PSN which is processing all the
voice calls," adds Lehr. "This enhanced tool allows Network Operations,
Customer Service and Marketing to administer the system easily and
effectively."
