In the above network architecture the IP service provider will
have interconnections to the PSTN in either MF/PRI or SS7.
With this connection, the OSP easily converts TDM packets to
IP packets that are sent to an IP phone. IP VoIP protocols
supported today include MGCP and SIP. For service provider
differentiation, Primal offers Primal Messenger that works on
the desktop in conjunction with the IP phone. Subscribers will
do their basic telephony features via the telephone that is
connected through a Cable or DSL pipe, and for extra "bells
and whistles" the subscriber will utilize Primal Messenger to
experience a tightly integrated service all handled by the OSP.
Some of the features of the architecture include:
Conferencing via Primal Messenger
Calling Name and CLID on the desktop
Unified messaging functionality
Enhanced voice mail on the OSP
Call redirection via Primal Messenger
